    denise merrillThe office of the CT Secretary of the State (SOTS) oversees Justices of the Peace and keeps the JP Manual updated. We'll ask keynote speaker SOTS Denise Merrill about recent and pending marriage laws and other duties that JPs may perform.

     Marriage licenses that are returned to Town Clerks throughout CT make their way to Registrar of Vital Records Jane Purtill, who tracks marriage statistics and trends.

  • Renowned Wedding Industry Expert Peter Merry
    peter merry In his talk, "Better Consultations Bring Better Bookings," Peter will show us how to do more of what we love to do: officiate at weddings! We will learn why the first 15 minutes of a meeting with couples are the most important. We will learn how to help couples uncover their real needs while demonstrating the value of our services. We will learn how to develop a relationship with our clients that can lead to years of referrals to other couples.

Afternoon Only Event

Peter Merry will be the presenter at the afternoon program. He is famous in the wedding industry and  is regularly the keynote speaker at many (far more expensive!) conferences like WeddingMBA. Wedding industry professionals who are not Justices of the Peace are also invited to join us to hear Peter speak at 1:30 p.m. The topic is "Better Consultations Bring Better Bookings." This interactive talk is not to be missed. In it, Peter he will share how developing a purposeful method for sales consultations results in increased booking ratios at ever-increasing price levels.

You will learn why the first 15 minutes of a meeting with your couple may be the most important, whether the meeting is in person or via telephone or email. You will learn how to help your clients uncover their real needs while demonstrating that you offer the best solutions to the challenges they face. And you will learn how to show the real value of your services. You will not learn how to coerce anyone into choosing your services. Instead you will find out how to develop a relationship with your clients that can lead to years of referrals.

This talk is designed to help all wedding professionals increase their booking percentages and boost their confidence in effectively communicating why their services are the best
