At last, a place for JPs to talk to each other, to discuss issues of common interest, to share experiences, to ask for advice or guidance from their fellow JPs, and lots MORE. It's also a place to communicate your thoughts and ideas with the Justice of the Peace Association www.jpUS.org .

How to Register for the Forum

All Justices of the Peace are invited to register before Posting to the Forum by sending an email to forum@jpus.org. Please include the following:
  • your name
  • your state and the city or town in which you are a JP
  • your preferred login name
  • your preferred display name.
We'll send you an email when your registration is complete.
Then find the right Forum and start talking. Please also share with us (and each other) your suggestions for new discussion categories. Our aim is to give Justices of the Peace the tools they need to forge a real community.

Is it possible for a J.P. from Connecticut to get a "Day Pass" (if you will) to perform a cerromoney for my friends in the state of Massachusetts.
These people are looking to have a Nudist wedding performed. Any help members could give as to procedure in this area, if it is leagal; would be a great assistance to myself.

Absolutely !! I do weddings in Massachusetts almost more than I do here in my own state of Connecticut, because I live on the border. Very simple. Go to the State of Massachusetts Secretary of State on the Internet. print out the form to fill out for a Non Resident Officiate. Fill it out and fax to them. You will have your one day waiver/"pass" within 1 week.

Unless, of course, you are inside in a very well heated building!!!!


Our DJ end of our business has performed at several clothing optional dances.
And yes, without clothing!

I am curious, Senator Fluffy, will you wear a robe or garments for the service?
Does anyone require mic-ing and it is a home or private facility?

The clothing optional family campground where several close family members have sites, host ceremonies, for their members, frequently.
Warm weather does come in handy!!!

I, too, enjoy solemnizing (their term) marriages in Massachusetts.
You will find the state most cooperative.

I don't think so, Mimi, but will defer this to Saul and the Association.
Let's see if we can compile a listing with states that might allow "permission" to Connecticut Justices, if not reciprocity.

I have frequented this resort for 11 years and have been a full member for the last
3 years.

So far as wearing clothing, no one will unless weather prohibits, in which case I think
the club house could be made available.

At this campground, the residents have transcended family. Family you are close to
but do not choose. Here people choose who will be their neighbors and that grows with
time to become a close, tighter relationship than family. Here the people are willing to
extend a hand without being asked when assistance is needed.

So somehow I think the robe thing might be a little much for the wedding.
Seeing as Fall has now officially begun, My Mantra is "It's One Day Closer To Summer"

Only other state I know that permits out-of-staters to officiate is New Hampshire - but you've got to be a legal officiant in your own state. And as JPs, we are! (Massachusetts allows ANYONE to get a one-day waiver.)

Probably there are others - will take some research.
